The 6 Week Milestone

Reaching 6 weeks has been such an accomplishment!!

To all new moms out there, 6 weeks is a true milestone. I am full of happiness and it feels amazing!

We currently have figured out (through lots of trial and error) a schedule that seems to be working!! Jilly bean is up to 4 ounces of breast milk every three hours; because this little chunker is eating more, she sleeps longer at night. We are now getting 5 hours of sleep when we first put her down. Tim will take her during the first late night feeding, allowing me to sleep. I take the early morning feeding and like clockwork she is up at 7:30.

We walk together every morning for an hour, which has become such a highlight of our day. She stays awake during the walk, and I play music for her on my iPhone. After our walk, I usually get in enough time to put in the Jillian Michael's 30 day Shred work-out (THANKS DANA!!!). With breast feeding and working out I am getting close to my pre-baby weight. I still have 8 pounds to go, which means I need to find time to hit the gym. In order to do this, Tim has agreed to go into work early on Tuesday and Thursdays so in the evenings I can do my Turbo Kick Classes. Being active has really helped me mentally.

I am also getting so much more confident leaving the house with Jillian. Being cooped up in my house, with limited places to go, was driving me crazy. Jillian is such a good baby to take out. If she starts crying in a store, all I have to do is pick her up and sooth her.

The addition of the moby wrap this week has also solved some other issues we were having. Jillian really likes to be held. She is most content in my arms, and it wasn't allowing for any ME time. The moby wrap is super easy to use, and allows me to do all the house chores when I have energy. Plus it provides Jillian with a sense of being swaddled. When I place her in the wrap, she instantly calms down, and will look up and just stare at me while I move around with her. It's wonderful bonding time for both of us.

I predict a lot more blogging in my future now that I have some sanity back in my life. Hope everyone is doing well!

And now for some recent pictures:

  2. so glad that you like the 30 day shred! I need to get back to doing it...it has been a little hard since going back to work because when I get home all I want to do is hold Aydan (and there are bottles to wash and prepare for the next day, blah, blah, blah).

So happy that everything is going well for you and your family! :)
